Stefania Sandoval participates in "Somos Científicos y Científicas, Sácanos de aquí" 2020 in the #ZonaCSIC

Stefania Sandoval, researcher at ICMAB in the Solid State Chemistry group, has been selected to participate in the Spanish edition of the international science outreach programme “I’m a scientist, get me out of here!”. The 2020 edition of “Somos científicos y científicas, ¡Sácanos de aquí!” will take place from 4-15 May 2020. During this time, Stefania will chat in a multidisciplinary group of scientists – the CSIC zone – which includes researchers from other CSIC centres.

New flexible, robust and secure tapes for information storage in wearable devices

Researchers from ICMAB-CSIC have obtained a flexible tape of an antiferromagnetic material (FeRh, iron-rhodium system) able to store information in a more robust and secure way than the ubiquitous ferromagnetic materials. This innovation may have application where flexibility and data storage robustness are required, such as credit or identification cards.

Does temperature have an effect on the propagation of the new coronavirus?

The answer is that we don't know, yet. However, José Vidal-Gancedo has been analyzing these past days the virus propagation throughout the world. After analyzing the data and reading some articles related to the effect of the environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) on the propagation of the new coronavirus SARS-Cov-2, he wrote an article, which was finally published in La Vanguardia (28/03/2020). He also was interviewed by Aquí Cuní in SER Catalunya (31/03/2020). You can listen the interview and read the article here.

The ACS Omega Virtual Issue "Women at the Forefront of Chemistry" features two articles led by ICMAB women

Th article published in the Open Access journal ACS Omega "On the Study of Ca and Mg Deintercalation from Ternary Tantalum Nitrides" by M. Rosa Palacín, Amparo Fuertes et al. and the article "Role of Polymorphism and Thin-Film Morphology in Organic Semiconductors Processed by Solution Shearing" by Marta Mas-Torrent et al. have been selected for the the journal's first-ever Virtual Issue "Women at the Forefront of Chemistry". Congratulations, Dr. Dolores Bueno, new ICMAB graduate!

Doctor Researcher Dolores Bueno, from the NANOMOL Group at ICMAB, defended her PhD thesis on Friday, 20 March 2020. Her PhD Thesis was entitled "Peptide functionalized nanoliposomes for biomolecule intracellular delivery, prepared using compressed CO2" and was supervised by Nora Ventosa and Elisabet González.
