ICMAB, 6 FEB 2020: Welcome Day of the DOC-FAM PhD Fellows (2nd Call)

On Thursday, 6 February 2020, the Welcome Day for the COFUND MSCA Doctoral Training Programme on Functional Advanced Materials "DOC-FAM" PhD Fellows (2nd Call) will take place at ICMAB (9:15 am). The Welcome Day is aimed to present the project and introduce the second call PhD fellows and their projects. In this second call, the projects are being carried out at ICMAB-CSIC, ICN2, IMB-CNM-CSIC, IREC and ALBA Synchrotron.

Breakthrough in the ultrafast growth of superconducting films with high performances

  • The new low-cost, environmentally friendly and scalable method, designed by ICMAB-CSIC researchers, represents a breakthrough in the production of superconducting materials
  • A transient liquid phase is formed with the new precursors, from which the superconducting films grow at speeds of 100 nm/s
  • This method is fully compatible with the incorporation of nanoparticles into the superconductor structure, essential for high magnetic field applications in wind generators, electric aviation or particle accelerators

Two articles made-in-ICMAB at the SCQ journal: magnetic reduced graphene oxide and Smart-4-Fabry project

The last issue of the journal of the Catalan Chemical Society (Revista de la Societat Catalana de Química) includes two articles from ICMAB researchers. The first one is about graphene oxide nanocomposites decorated with superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles, and the second one is about the European project "Smart-4-Fabry", which develops a new nanomedicine for the treatment of the Fabry disease. New COVER in Advanced Energy Materials: A treasure map to find the best performance of organic solar cells!

Organic solar cells based on ternary systems have promise as high efficiency and high stability systems. Finding the performance sweet‐spot is, however, a monumental task. The article published in Advanced Energy Materials "Efficient Exploration of the Composition Space in Ternary Organic Solar Cells by Combining High‐Throughput Material Libraries and Hyperspectral Imaging", which made it to the cover of the journal's issue, Mariano Campoy‐Quiles and co‐workers present a simple high‐throughput method to map the ternary parameter space and efficiently discover optimum conditions.
