Abstract:
In this doctoral thesis, we focus on the design of new Curcuminoids (CCMoids) towards their applications in the field of Molecular Electronics by depositing them on graphene-based three-terminal devices. The devices work as a field effect transistor (FET), having two graphene electrodes (source and drain) supported by a third one (gate) made of Si, with a SiO2 layer between them as insulator. The designed CCMoids contain several aromatic rings at both ends of the molecules, to interact with the graphene electrodes. Moreover, some of them also possess a short functionalized group located at the centre of the CCMoid that can interact with the activated SiO2 support of the three-terminal hybrid devices to attach the CCMoids to the final system.
