EPNOE and ESEIA announce their first joint International Summer School that will take place in Barcelona from 11 to 15 July 2022.
Sustainable Materials for Renewable Energy Applications (SURE 2022) is the name of the next summer school organized in the framework of both associations, EPNOE and ESEIA, and hosted by the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB, CSIC).
The event is especially designed for young researchers: Master's students, Ph.D. fellows and junior Postdocs, who are either engaged in or are interested in working on sustainable materials in the field of renewable energy: photovoltaics, batteries and supercapacitors, and other emerging technologies.
Aspects such as the role of renewables in the power system and their implementation in parts of Africa will also be addressed. The course will include keynote lectures by international experts and will allow plenty of time for discussion with the experts. A visit to ALBA Synchrotron, located near ICMAB is also scheduled.
There will also be a focus on entrepreneurship design thinking, creativity, innovation and technology transfer. Students attending the school will undertake an exercise to design their own start-up. The founder of FUELIUM, a successful start-up on eco-friendly batteries will give a lecture to inspire this activity and KATCH-UP: a circular economy game will be used to guide the students.
Register to the school before 15 May 2022 to secure a spot!
EPNOE and ESEIA have joined forces since 2020, and are working together for a better future.
The European Sustainable Energy Innovation Alliance (ESEIA) is a recognized European association of leading organizations representing the entire renewable energy innovation landscape. As a cross-sector alliance, ESEIA approaches energy transition from a systemic point of view, from energy provision to energy consumption, in research, teaching, business, and governance.
The European Polysaccharides Network of Excellence (EPNOE) is a non-profit association with more than 50 institutions and company members from 20 countries. The association has 17-years of experience in networking and project building in bio-based and circular economy, and biopolymers related fields in materials science & engineering, food & nutrition and biomedical applications.
The Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB, CSIC) is a research center focused on cutting-edge functional materials for emerging applications in the fields of sustainable energy, next generation electronics and smart nanomedicine. An interdisciplinary and international institute that hosts more than 300 people working in creating and characterizing the materials of the future.
