The Societat Catalana de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (SCN2) held its First Annual Congress of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology on Saturday, 16 November 2019. The event took place at Casa Elizalde in Barcelona and focused on Energy harvesting, Environment and Sustainable Development. Martí Gibert, PhD fellow at NANOPTO group won the poster contest with his work on “Near Infrared Organic Photodetectors based on Enhanced Charge Transfer State Absorption by Photonic Architectures”. Congratulations!
The event counted with talks by different experts in the field of energy, a poster contest for PhD fellows and a roundtable discussion arount the role of nanotechnology in the future energy transition and ecological challenges. From the ICMAB, Mariano Campoy-Quiles was an invited speaker and talked about organic solar cells.
The invited speakers were:
The roundtable was moderated by Eva Pellicer (UAB), and the participants were Neus Gómez (ICN2), Salvador Pueyo (UB) and Pedro Gómez (ICN2), in which several aspects to reduce our impact in the planet were discussed.
Then, the winner of the poster contest was announced. Martí Gibert, from the NANOPTO group at the ICMAB won the first prize for his work on “Near Infrared Organic Photodetectors based on Enhanced Charge Transfer State Absorption by Photonic Architectures”. Congratulations, Martí!
Roger Ponce (ICFO), president of the SCN2, closed the event celebrating the success of the congress and happy to organize the next one!
From the ICMAB we are very happy for the organization of this event, and we hope that it becomes one of the reference conferences in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology for our PhD fellows and researchers. The participation of different research centers in the conference is necessary for an efficient and interdisciplinary network and for the advance of research in this field. Thank you, SCN2!
