Nora Ventosa designated new numerary member of the IEC

On 8 November 2018, the Institut d'Estudis Catalans (IEC) decided to incorporate six new numerary members, two in Biological Sciences and four in Science and Technology. Nora Ventosa, Doctor in Chemical Engineering and researcher at ICMAB-CSIC, was designated new numerary member in the Science and Technology section. Congratulations!

Nora Ventosa is Chemical Engineer by the Institut Químic de Sarrià (IQS) and Doctor by the Universitat Ramon Llull. She is Research Scientist at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC). She is co-leader of the NANOMOL group, assigned to the TECNIO network, which includes the main centers and agents involved in technology transfer in Catalonia. She is co-founder of the spin-off Nanomol Technologies, vicepresident of the Societat Catalana de Química (SCQ-IEC) and member of the Administration Council of ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government agency for the promotion of the competitiveness within companies. She has participated, organized and directed more than 50 research projects, funded by different national and international agencies, public, private and industrial. 

We are very happy for Nora, and we would like to congratulate her for this nomination!

In the Biological Science, the new numerary members are:
  • Francesc Xavier Turon Barrera, research professor at the Advanced Studies Center in Blanes (CEAB), belonging to the CSIC
  • Antoni Trilla i Garcia, Doctor in medicine and Head of the Preventive Medicine and Epidemiology Service at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona
In the Science and Technology section, the new numerary members are:
  • Joaquim Bruna, Doctor in mathematics by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and director (from 2007 to 2015) of the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM)
  • Nora Ventosa, Doctor in chemical engineering and researcher at the Institue of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB), belonging to the CSIC
  • Josep Anton Muñoz, university professor of structural geology at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB)
  • Lluís Torner, university professor at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) at the Department of Signal Theory and Communications and director of the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO)
