Biography

Her full research career involves solid state chemistry and electrochemistry applied to battery technology covering technologies already commercial (e.g. Ni or Li-ion) or pre-commercial (Na-ion), as well as new chemistries and emerging concepts (Mg or Ca) with a focus on developing fertile cooperation scenarios between basic oriented research and industry. Emphasis is set in developing new materials tailoring structure and microstructure to maximize electrochemical performance and understanding redox mechanisms through investigation of electrode and electrolyte reactivity. Her achievements have led to the establishment of a significant number of collaborations and international recognition.

She co-directed the ALISTORE-ERI (www.alistore.eu), is currently vice-president of the International Battery Association and member of the International Meeting on Lithium Batteries Executive Committee.  She contributed to the “Basic Research Needs for Electrical Energy Storage” roadmap (Office of Science, US Department of Energy, April 2007) and the “Roadmapping Exercise on Materials for the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan in Energy Storage” (EC) and has recently been elected as member of the governing board for Batteries Europe ETIP.

She has written invited reviews in high impact and specialised journals, Chem. Rev. (2919), Chem. Soc. Rev. (2009 and 2018), Adv. Mat. (2010), JACS (2015) and Science (2016) deserving special mention.  She has also participated in the organization of several international meetings and served as associated editor for diverse journals until 2016 when she entered the Editorial Board of Chemistry of Materials.
