Seven Frontier Interdisciplinary Projects (FIP) granted within the Severo Ochoa FUNFUTURE Programme

The first call for Frontier Interdisciplinary Projects within the Smart FUNctional materials for a better FUTURE (FUNFUTURE) Severo Ochoa Programme boosts 7 new collaborative projects.

The FIP are an internal call of proposals for researchers of the Institute aimed for the development of both experimental and theoretical frontier interdisciplinary research projects through the exploration of innovative and radical novel ideas, the development of new methodologies or the reinterpretation of already established paradigms in the field of new functional materials.

The objective is to generate cutting-edge research in the application areas of the FUNFUTURE Programme: clean & secure energy, smart & sustainable electronics or smart nanomedicine. To achieve this, ICMAB sought projects that showed the opportunity to increase the Technology Readyness Level (TRL) of a proof-of-concept based on previously obtained scientific results.

The projects will run for 1 or 2 years, and can be individual or collaborative (between researchers of different research groups or from other institutions). This edition of the FIP Call had two categories, one based on the exploration of novel ideas and methodologies (Category A), and one based on the development of Proof-of-concept projects (Category B).
