After last year’s party being cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, we were stoked to be able to finally celebrate again!
The 2021 ICMAB Party was celebrated after more than a year without live events due to the collective efforts to stop the spread of COVID. The party was not without changes, as it was celebrated entirely at ICMAB’s terrace to avoid concentrations of people inside. We celebrated on 16 July 2021 with many events, including the first CRYSTALMATCH contest, the awards ceremony for the FOTICMAB contest, the BEFORE&NOW photo activity, a tie dye workshop by Sara Ruiz, Nerea González and Lídia Ballell, a sketching workshop by Alejandro Santos, and the final of the Tennis Table tournament!
In this short video you will see some of the activities of the day!

This year’s party had the first edition CRYSTALMATCH, ICMAB’s crystal growing competition. It was organized by and judged by Teresa Calvet, from the Universitat de Barcelona, and ICMAB Researchers Jordi Rius, Anna Crespi, and Nico Dix, as well as former ICMAB Director Carles Miravitlles. We will soon share the winners in a future post.

The BEFORE&NOW activity gave us a look into how the ICMAB staff has changed and evolved during the years, comparing images from 1991 and 2021!

We also found out the winners of the FOTICMAB contest:
The sketching workshop by Alejandro Santos from the Manuel Cardona Library at ICMAB had the staff representing the ICMAB building in their own way:

The T-Shirt tie dye workshop by ICMAB Researchers Sara Ruiz, Nerea González and Lídia Ballell got some really cool results:

We also got to attend the semifinals and final of the ICMAB Tennis Table Tournament, were Marc Domingo and Ferran Vallès faced each other:

Congratulations Ferran Vallès for winning this year’s tournament. We hope everyone had fun in this year’s ICMAB Party and we hope next year we can bring some food and gather again! Thank you to everyone who collaborated to make this event possible.
